Every book is a treasure...however, as much as we'd like to, we cannot buy every book. There are a number of things that we consider when we look at trading for or buying your used books:
- Appearance - We love beautiful books! Besides, books with broken backs, torn covers, stained pages, and the like simply do not sell well.
- Smell - We love a beautiful store! If we buy books that smell like smoke, mold, or mildew then our store will smell too! Besides, these things damage books and the damage can spread from one book to another and "infect" all of our stock.
- Desirability - We absolutely love interesting books! Last year's best seller was called a best seller for a reason! Nearly everyone bought a copy and nobody is buying it today. It's just not interesting anymore. Of course there are exceptions so it's still best to bring all of your old books in and let us take a look at them!
Our trade policy is simple: We credit you half
the selling price for every book you bring in. You can then apply that credit to your next purchase. If you bring in two nice paperbacks you'll be able to walk out with a book of equal value (of course, Uncle Sam takes his cut too).
We purchase books at 40% of retail value. Exceptions may be made for large lots or collections.
